Face IT@home Together is a self-help support group for people with visible differences who want to improve their self confidence and social skills. The group uses Face IT@home, an online program, as the foundation for meetings. In each meeting participants read and discuss a selection from one of the Face IT@home sessions. The group takes a self-directed, strength-based approach in which members talk about how they plan to work on implementing the Face IT material in their lives and/or on what happened when they tried out some material from the website.

Meetings are peer led by people with visible differences and held monthly over Zoom. The first meeting is scheduled for October 13, 2025 at 12 noon Eastern time and 5 pm British standard time. The meetings are co-hosted by Alyson Norman, Diana Tenney-Laperriere and Michael Murphy. Alyson is a clinical and research psychologist who created the Face IT program and maintains its website.  Diana is a burn survivor who has facilitated a number of different types of support groups for people with visible differences. Michael is a psychologist who has counseled patients with visible differences, done research in this area, and who is himself a person with a visible difference.

Prior to the first meeting, potential group members should sign in to the Face IT@home website and look over the material presented there. There is no charge for signing up or using the program. If interested please contact Alyson Norman (Alyson.norman@plymouth.ac.uk) or Michael Murphy (mmurphy6@mgh.harvard.edu) prior to the first meeting.
